What we do - Case Study - Maximise the capability of the Internal Communication Function

National Charity - UK

The Organisational

Challenge

This multimillion pound charity had grown so rapidly, following a merger and highly successful fundraising, it needed to a new organizational infrastructure to ensure funds were managed in the most efficient and appropriate ways

The brief

Evaluate whether internal communications were fit for purpose in the new structure

What we did

Evaluated executive team expectations and then worked with the internal
communications team to identify the disconnections and development needs. We also
audited the communication channels, intranet, magazines, briefings, emails etc

Our findings recommended changes in the functional structure and personnel. An open
and supportive relationship with the team meant this was effected with minimum pain
and disruption

While the charity recruited a new Head of internal comms, Sheila acted as ‘non
executive’ manager for the internal comms team, holding weekly coaching sessions
individually and collectively

Outcome

Performance was not only maintained but enhanced during a potentially disruptive change experience. The IC team acquired new strategic thinking skills and was able to implement ‘quick win’ recommendations immediately. When the new head of IC arrived , the team was already primed to become the strategic partners the organization demanded
